Short answer

If a bank will finance you at a normal interest rate, finance is usually cheaper over the term. Rent-to-own costs more but approves on income instead of credit record, includes insurance, tracker and service, and has no balloon, which makes it the better route for people the banks turn down.

When finance makes sense

If your credit score is good, your income is on a payslip and you can pay the deposit, bank finance is usually the cheapest way to own a car. Shop around and avoid big balloons.

When rent-to-own makes sense

If you were declined, are blacklisted, under debt review, self-employed or new to credit, rent-to-own gets you a car now. Choose a provider that shows the full price, has no balloon and includes insurance and service.

The YeboAuto deal

Eight promises the others won’t put in writing.

We read every complaint about rent-to-own in South Africa: surprise fees, balloon payments, cars stuck at the workshop while the debit order keeps running. Then we wrote the opposite into our deal.

Every rand, upfront

Weekly amount, deposit, term, the price to buy it at the end, and where every rand goes: the vehicle, insurance, service, licence and our margin. Your price card is locked in writing for 7 days.

No balloon: a small, fixed buy price

At the end you can buy the vehicle for a fixed price written into your agreement on day one: R5,000 for a car, R500 for a bike. No R40,000 surprise.

Buy it early if you want

Had a good season? Ask for an early buy-out quote and own it before the term ends. Most rent-to-own deals make you sit out the full contract.

Unlimited km for drivers & riders

Drivers do 1,200 km a week. We don’t cap the kilometres you earn with.

Off the road? Your week is on us

If a repair takes more than 24 hours, you get a loan vehicle or that week is free. Never pay for a car or bike you can’t earn with.

Bad-week pause

Can’t pay one week? WhatsApp us that day. Once a year you can move one payment to the end of your term, no penalty, no fight.

Road-legal from day one

PrDP and operating-licence help for e-hailing, the right insurance cover, and the papers in your hands for every roadblock.

FAQ

Straight answers

Is rent-to-own more expensive than finance?

Usually yes over the full term, because the provider carries the credit risk and includes insurance and service. Compare total prices, not weekly amounts.

Can I switch to finance later?

Yes. If your credit improves, ask us for an early buy-out quote and switch whenever it suits you.
