Your checklist

What you need to start driving in 2026

  1. 1

    Driver’s licence

A valid SA licence (or a recognised one with a work permit). The apps usually want it held for a while; check their current rules.

  2. 2

    PrDP (Professional Driving Permit)

Needed to carry passengers for money. Haven’t got one? We help you apply while your car is prepared.

  3. 3

    Police clearance & ID

The apps run background checks. Have your ID or passport + work permit ready.

  4. 4

    A smartphone & bank account

For the driver app and your weekly earnings.

  5. 5

    An app-approved car

This is where we come in: a new, app-approved car with e-hailing insurance, from R2 495/week.

  6. 6

    Operating licence / permit

Required for the vehicle in many areas. We support the application so you’re road-legal from day one.

Uber and Bolt set their own driver and vehicle requirements and change them from time to time. Always confirm on their official sites. See our PrDP & operating-licence guide.

Honest maths
