Rent to own as a foreign national
Short answer
Foreign nationals can rent to own with a valid passport, a permit that allows them to work in South Africa, a driver’s licence that is valid here, proof of address and proof of income. For e-hailing and delivery work, the platforms also check your permit, and since 2026 they ask for extra declarations.

Questions drivers ask

Some foreign licences are valid for a period; others must be converted. Check with your licensing department, especially for PrDP purposes.
