How to start delivery work without a bike
Short answer
You have three ways to start: ride for a fleet that supplies bikes, rent a bike weekly (about R550–R1,250 a week), or rent to own one (from R699 a week here, R995 deposit, buy it for R500 after 18 months). Get your motorbike licence and app sign-up done first; then the bike can be ready within days.
Step by step
- Licence: get your motorbike licence (A1 for bikes up to 125cc).
- Documents: ID or passport with a valid work permit, proof of address.
- Sign up on the delivery apps you want: Uber Eats, Mr D, Bolt Food, or a Sixty60 partner.
- Get a bike: compare the options below.
| Option | Weekly | Deposit | Own it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fleet bike | Share of earnings or fixed fee | Varies | No |
| Weekly rental | R550–R1,250 | R0–R1,500 | No |
| YeboAuto rent-to-own | From R699 | R995 | Yes, in 18 months |
