What it is

Rent-to-own is a rental agreement, not a credit agreement, so it isn’t new debt. At the end you can buy the car for a fixed R5,000.

Who qualifies

People under debt review with a steady income. Take-home pay from R9,000 a month (or average turnover from R15,000 if self-employed), after your debt-review instalment.

What it costs

From R1 795 a week, all-in. We check that the amount fits next to your debt-review payment.

How fast

A first answer in 60 seconds, a full answer within 24 hours.

Can you get a car while under debt review?

While you are under debt review you may not take on new credit, such as vehicle finance. A rental is not credit, so a rent-to-own car is one of the few legal ways to get your own transport.

Tell your debt counsellor before you sign. A good rent-to-own provider will check that the weekly amount is affordable after your debt-review instalment, so you don’t fall behind on either.

What we look at

Instead of your credit record, we look at three months of bank statements:

  • Your take-home pay or business turnover
  • Your debt-review instalment and fixed costs
  • Whether the weekly amount leaves enough to live on

The YeboAuto deal

Eight promises the others won’t put in writing.

We read every complaint about rent-to-own in South Africa: surprise fees, balloon payments, cars stuck at the workshop while the debit order keeps running. Then we wrote the opposite into our deal.

Every rand, upfront

Weekly amount, deposit, term, the price to buy it at the end, and where every rand goes: the vehicle, insurance, service, licence and our margin. Your price card is locked in writing for 7 days.

No balloon: a small, fixed buy price

At the end you can buy the vehicle for a fixed price written into your agreement on day one: R5,000 for a car, R500 for a bike. No R40,000 surprise.

Buy it early if you want

Had a good season? Ask for an early buy-out quote and own it before the term ends. Most rent-to-own deals make you sit out the full contract.

Unlimited km for drivers & riders

Drivers do 1,200 km a week. We don’t cap the kilometres you earn with.

Off the road? Your week is on us

If a repair takes more than 24 hours, you get a loan vehicle or that week is free. Never pay for a car or bike you can’t earn with.

Bad-week pause

Can’t pay one week? WhatsApp us that day. Once a year you can move one payment to the end of your term, no penalty, no fight.

Road-legal from day one

PrDP and operating-licence help for e-hailing, the right insurance cover, and the papers in your hands for every roadblock.

A real person on WhatsApp

One named account manager, a reply the same day, a reminder before every debit and a statement every month.
